The Brock Badgers men’s volleyball team were defeated 3-1 (17-25, 21-25, 29-27, 21-25) by the No. 4 ranked Windsor Lancers on Jan. 18 at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Devin Cooney led all Badgers in scoring with 13.5 points from 11 kills and 2.5 blocks, while Adam Shapcott delivered a team-high 36 assists and seven digs.
The visitors got off to an early lead to start the first set. Despite the Badgers bringing the score within one point, the Lancers were able to pull away on the back of a 12-6 run and took the set 25-17.
A much more closely-contested second set was in store for this matchup, as neither team was unable to create a substantial advantage. Eventually, it was Windsor who would string together consecutive points and prevail by a score of 25-21.
In the third set, the visitors led by as many as six points, but a 14-9 run from the Badgers brought the game level at 23. Both teams traded points late into the set, before a block from Liam Strong and a kill from Cooney on set point, gave Brock the 29-27 third-set victory.
The fourth set continued to feature constant lead changes, but it eventually it wouldn’t go the Badgers way as the Lancers would take it 25-21 and the match by a score of 3-1.
Windsor led with a hitting percentage of .267 followed by Brock’s .137 hitting percentage.
