The Brock Badgers men’s volleyball team swept the TMU Bold on this Halloween matchup on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Toronto, a day after taking the series opener 3-1.

In their first straight sets win of the season, Brock took the first set 25-21, forcing eight attack errors from TMU, and they ran away with the second set 25-18. The third set was tighter, with Brock holding a 22-21 edge at a TMU timeout before closing it out 25-21. The Badgers hit .289 as a group over three sets, putting up 32 kills, including a dominant .414 in the second set.

Brock made it dangerous for TMU to make errors, capitalizing on the Bold mistakes and allowing little defensively. The Badgers wore down the TMU defence, giving themselves opportunities for scoring streaks.

Kyle Stodola led Brock in scoring with 12 points, adding a team-high 10 kills and seven digs. Lucas Bouwers and Devin Cooney each finished with nine points, and Bouwers hit .467 on 15 attempts. Caleb Huot controlled the offence with 29 assists, to go with three service aces and six digs. Mathieu Joli-Coeur was a shutdown force on defence with four solo blocks and hit .600 for eight points.

The Badgers resume play in two weeks’ time at Bob Davis Gym for their home opener against the Toronto Varsity Blues at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13. Tickets for the game available for purchase on University Tickets and the game can be streamed on  OUA.tv.
