Beach bronze for Canada at first NORCECA event of the season

Canadians Liam Kopp and Arran Chambers of Canada won the bronze medal match over Mexico’s Cruz and Aguirre 2-0 21-8, 21-14 at the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour in Aguascalientes, Mexico, this past weekend. 

Fellow Canadians Jake MacNeil/Alex Russell finished 5th after a 2-1 win over Jorge Barajas and Ricardo Galindo of Mexico in their final contest.

Chase Frishman and Cody Caldwell of the United States won the championship match in a tie-break 2-1 (14-21, 22-20, 15-7) over the Mexican team of Juan Virgen and Miguel Sarabia.

On the women’s side, the Canadian entries of Alison McKay/Katherine Wuttunee were 5th and Shanice Marcelle/Lea Monkhouse finished 9th overall. 

Atenas Gutiérrez and Abril Flores of Mexico won the gold defeating USA’s Geena Urango and Carly Skjodt 21-13, 21-19 at this first stage of the 2023 NORCECA tour.
