Canada defeated Australia 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-20) on Tuesday in Volleyball Nations League, the first time the team has swept four consecutive matches in VNL or World League play.
The Canadians improved their record to 6-8 in Rimini, Italy, climbing to ninth in the 16-team tournament, while last-place Australia dropped to 1-13.
Ryan Sclater of New Westminster, B.C. was Canada’s leading scorer with 16 points, followed by Aurora, Ont. native Stephen Maar, who had 13.

The Canadian men shut out Australia, earning their fourth-successive straight-sets sweep for the first time in FIVB Nations or World League history. 6:22
The Canadians have also swept the Netherlands, Japan and Germany.
Bound for the Tokyo Olympics, they finish the 15-match preliminary round against Serbia on Wednesday (CBCSports.ca, 5:45 a.m. ET).
