April 21, 2024: Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson secured another top-five placing on the Beach Pro Tour this weekend in Tepic, Mexico.
After a second-place finish in Pool D, Melissa and Brandie defeated fellow Canadians Sarah Pavan and Molly McBain 2-0 (21-15, 21-13) in the first round of playoffs on Friday evening.
However, in the quarterfinals on Saturday, the team faced the determined Swiss pair of Hüberli / Brunner, who beat Melissa / Brandie 2-0 (21-15, 21-19).
Melissa/Brandie finish fifth overall; while Pavan/McBain ended in ninth position. There were no Canadian men’s main draw entries.
The Beach Pro Tour continues, with important ranking points at stake towards qualification to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
