The versatile product of Tauranga, New Zealand played multiple positions for the ‘Pack this year, suiting up with 17 matches and playing 60 sets this season.

Daniel Hitchens has been a great addition to the program,” said WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly. “We had Hitchens playing opposite to start the year and then due to some injury issues we moved him back to the middle.”

Racking up 2.11 kills-per-set on 216 attacks this season, Hitchens especially shone in TRU’s first weekend after the winter break where he tallied 17 kills and a six blocks against the TWU Spartans.

“He had a really strong weekend against TWU and helped us compete in a tough five set loss,” said Hennelly. “Daniel is an explosive athlete, which makes him tough to stop,” said Hennelly. “I know with Daniel’s attitude and work ethic that the best is yet to come.”

Recording 39 blocks on the season, Hitchens is the fourth member of WolfPack men’s volleyball to earn Canada West All-Rookie honours and the first since 2019-20.
