No. 4 Windsor defeats Brock in Sunday contest

The Lancers bested the Badgers in their second straight matchup of the weekend.

The Brock Badgers men’s volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (17-25, 25-22, 17-25, 16-25) match against the No. 4 ranked Windsor Lancers on Sunday, Jan. 19 at Bob Davis Gymnasium.

Devin Cooney notched a game-high 19 total points off of 18 kills and one block followed by Kylar Code who had 15 points off of 12 kills, two blocks and one ace. Sasha Thiessen led the Badgers with 37 assists in his first career start, while Jack Barrett also registered a game-high five blocks.

Opening the first set with a 13-7 lead, the Lancers were too much for the Badgers who were unable to rally for a comeback, dropping the set 25-17.

Brock rallied in the second in an entertaining back and forth set to win it 25-22 with help from Barrett and Thiessen who recorded the winning block.

Windsor took control of the game after the third set with a 12-5 run which they won 25-17.

The Lancers clinched the away win with a commanding 25-16 fourth set which saw the Badgers fall by a match score of 3-1 for their second straight game.

Hitting percentage wise, the Badgers were edged by Windsor .290 to .220.

Up next, the Brock Badgers will take on the Western Mustangs in London on Friday, Jan. 24 at 8 p.m. The game will be available on OUA.tv. These teams last faced on Feb. 24, 2024 which saw the Badgers win 3-1((25-20, 18-25, 25-22, 25-18).
