Brock earned their seventh straight win of the regular season.
The No. 8 nationally ranked Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team found success for the second night in a row against the York Lions, claiming victory 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 27-25) on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Bob Davis Gymnasium.
Fourth-year outside hitter Emily Foest led the Badgers recording a team-high 13.5 points off of 10 kills, two service aces and 1.5 blocks.
After going down 4-0 early to the Lions and playing a tightly contested set, the Badgers began to pull away after taking a timeout. They took the first set by a score of 25-18.
Brock played an impressive second set as second-year middle Emma Baruchelli notched a crucial kill and ace, putting the Badgers in the driver’s seat to win the set 25-16.
The Lions refused to back down as the back-and-forth action kept the third set within one, ultimately, it was the Badgers who triumphed and took the competitive set 27-25 to complete the sweep. Fourth-year outside hitter Laurin Ainsowrth’s kil and a York attack error helped give the Badgers the edge in the final two points.
Second-year setter Mackenna Knox tallied a game-high 32 assists in the Badgers’ win.
Brock recorded a 0.333 hitting percentage on the night ahead of York’s 0.108.
Up next, the Brock Badgers will continue their home stand as they head into a matchup with the Nipissing Lakers at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
