Brock extended their season winning streak to five games.
On Saturday, Feb. 1, the Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team wrapped up the weekend series winning 3-0 (28-26, 25-16, 25-17) against the Lakehead Thunderwolves at C.J. Sanders Fieldhouse in Thunder Bay.
Fourth-year outside hitter Emily Foest led the team with 14 points as she recorded 13 kills and one service ace. Fourth-year setter Lauren Teehan had a game-high of 33 assists in the contest.
It was a tight and high-scoring opening frame to the game with neither team being able to gain a comfortable lead. The Badgers used amazing net play with a huge block and a Foest kill to earn the two points needed for a 28-26 set victory.
Lakehead started the second frame well until Brock took their first lead in the set at 12-11. The Badgers caught momentum from their set-high 14 kills and earned the set victory by a score of 25-16.
The Badgers continued that success into the third frame as they quickly jumped to a lead that they never let up to secure the game, winning 25-17.
In the hitting department, Brock led with .183 compared to Lakehead’s .110.
Coming up, the Badgers will play host to the York Lions home at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday, Feb. 7 with a scheduled start of 6 p.m. In their last meeting, Brock came away victorious by a score of 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 28-26, 25-19) on the road in Toronto on Nov. 5, 2023.
