Queen’s Women’s Volleyball bounce back with four sets win over Lakehead to split weekend series

BOX SCORE Queen’s Women’s Volleyball head into the winter break on a winning note after taking down the host Lakehead Thunderwolves in four sets, 3-1 (25-19, 13-25, 25-17, 25-19), Saturday night in Thunder Bay, Ont.

With the victory, the Gaels split their weekend series with the Thunderwolves and finish the first half of their season with a 5-5 record.

Lauren Matthes (Arts & Science) led the Gaels with 10 kills in the win while Abigail MacAlpine (Arts & Science) recorded nine and Lauren MacPhail (Arts & Science) added seven.

MacPhail also had a game-high 11 blocks while MacAlpine added seven.

Kennedy Millin (Education) led Queen’s with 24 assists in the win and Holly Biasi (Arts & Science) had a game-high 24 digs.

Queen’s Women’s Volleyball is now off until January when they return to the court January 9-10, hosting the Guelph Gryphons at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
