(MONCTON, NB) The UNB REDS scored a 3-1 road win in their Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball season opener on Saturday.
The REDS beat l’Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues 25-23, 25-23, 26-28, and 25-16.
Sonya Nielsen led the REDS with 14 kills, three aces, and half a dozen digs. Danielle Kryzwonos registered 11 kills, a pair of service aces, and five blocks.
“I think we were confident throughout,” said Kryzwonos. “Losing the third, we were able to gain momentum near the end of the set and carry that into the fourth. If we can maintain that confidence going into next weekend it’ll help us.”
“It’s great to start the season on a winning note,” said REDS’ head coach Lauren Hale-Miller. “The team played confidently and composed through the ups and downs of the match.”
The REDS will host the Dalhousie Tigers in their home opener, on Friday. First serve is scheduled for 6:00pm.
