Sammy Ludwig named Canada West Mens Volleyball Player of the Week

Published on

Senior Bisons setter Sammy Ludwig had one of the most diverse showings of his Bisons career on the weekend, helping Manitoba sweep Saskatchewan in two games while improving to 8-6.

The Herd are undefeated at 4-0 in the second half of the year, thanks in part to Ludwig – this year’s Canada West Player of the Week — who had a season-best six kills and 8.5 points on Saturday, one day after distributing a balanced attack in a 3-0 win. In his last four games he has 161 assists along with 16 kills.

Saturday’s victory was a thriller, as Manitoba came from behind 9-5 in the fifth, with Ludwig putting down three of Manitoba’s final five points on kills from the right.

With 80 assists over his last two contests, Ludwig has also passed 300 for the third time as a Bison. He has 1,622 career regular season assists as a member of the Herd.
