The Badgers battled tough with the Trent Excalibur but fell in four sets at the Trent Athletics Centre.
In a road contest in Peterborough, the Badgers men’s volleyball team came up short to the host Excalibur 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 21-25, 20-25) on Friday, Jan. 31.
Leading the way for the Badgers was Devin Cooney who had a match-high 20 points off 17 kills and three service aces. Adam Shapcott delivered a game-high 38 assists in the loss.
In the first set, the Badgers held a four-point advantage at 19-15, but the Excalibur fought back, eventually taking lead at 23-22 en route to winning the tight first set 26-24.
Determined to start stronger in the next frame, the Badgers begin on a 5-1 run, with their advantage ballooning as large as seven multiple times. A couple of Trent errors late in the second frame gave Brock the 25-19 victory.
The Excalibur started the third set strong and did not look back as they took it 25-21.
Brock showed fight in the fourth set as they took their first lead at 15-14 after being down up until that point. However, the Excalibur countered with a 11-5 run of their own to seal the third set 25-20 and taking the match.
In the hitting percentage category, the Badgers managed a .119 while the Excalibur led with a .284.
