The Waterloo Warriors faced off against the McMaster Marauders on Friday evening in an intense match up.
The game started with an ace from Warriors’ Siraj Khanna , setting the tone early. Owen Paddock Thiessen (Brandon, ON) and AJ Nichols (Aurora, ON) were key contributors, helping generate offensive momentum in the opening points. As the set progressed, multiple Warriors were activated on offense, showcasing a team oriented play style. However, costly errors kept the score tight, and the Marauders capitalized to take the opening set 25-21.
McMaster carried that momentum into the second set, applying early offensive pressure. Despite the Marauders fast start, the Warriors stayed competitive, and an ace from Lucas Redmann (Winnipeg, MB) gave them a 6-5 lead. Cleaning up their errors and maintaining a high hitting efficiency, Waterloo took complete control and dominated the set 25-14.
With their momentum growing, the Warriors continued their strong offensive play in the third. Setter Cohen Peters (Vancouver, BC) excelled in distributing the ball to optimal attack points, while Nolan Reed (Grimsby, ON) delivered several highlight reel kills to fuel the offense. With 16 kills on 28 attacks, Waterloo secured the set 25-21.
The Marauders came out fighting in the fourth, refusing to go down easily. The set remained tightly contested, with both teams battling for every point. In the end, the Warriors held their edge and closed out the match with a 25-20 victory.
Waterloo will take on McMaster again tomorrow at 6:00 p.m., looking to build on their momentum.
