Riding a three-match winning streak and looking to secure a spot in the OUA Playoffs, the Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball team was back in action Friday.
Hosting the TMU Bold in the first of two matches this weekend, the Lakers sport an impressive 7-1 record at home, looking to improve on that mark.
Nipissing controlled the match from start to finish, grabbing their fourth straight victory and third straight sweep, winning 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 25-15).
The Lakers jumped out to an early lead, grabbing a 9-6 advantage to begin the opening set.
They extended that lead to 20-14 late in the game and cruised to a 25-15 win to quickly go ahead 1-0.
In the second, with the score tied 8-8, Nipissing exploded and went on a 12-3 run to go ahead 20-11 and in control of the set.
TMU fought back, closing the gap to five points, but the Lakers put things away, winning 25-19.
With a chance to close out the match, the Lakers didn’t miss their chance.
Nipissing led 11-6 early on, then went up 18-10.
From there, they closed the match out, going up 22-14 before a quick 3-1 run made it 25-15, enough to claim the sweep.
