Badgers men’s volleyball finishes campaign against Lakers

Brock came up short in their final regular-season contest.

The Brock Badgers men’s volleyball team fell to the Nipissing Lakers in three straight sets (20-25, 19-25, 21-25) at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 15 on Senior Day.

Nanle Yusuf led the way in points for Badgers with 7.5 off six kills, one ace and a block assist. Yusuf also led the Badgers in digs with seven.

The visiting Lakers were able to benefit from multiple Badgers errors late in the first set to take the opener by a score of 25-20.

In the second set, three straight kills from Yusuf briefly put Brock up 7-6 but errors again hurt the Badgers as the visitors won set two 25-19.

With it being 22-15 late in the third set, the Badgers battled back to make it 23-19 but ultimately fell 25-20 as Nipissing took the win.

The Lakers’ 35 kills bested the Badgers’ 25 on the day.

Adam Shapcott registered 17 assists for Brock.

The Brock Badgers men’s volleyball team finished the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) regular season with a record of 7-13. With just two seniors departing, the Badgers will look to return with a squad hungry to improve next season.
