TORONTO – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men’s volleyball team has strengthened its 2025-26 recruiting class with the addition of Gabriel Gonzalez Royds, a 6’2″ setter from Toronto.
A hometown recruit, Gonzalez Royds has been on Bold head coach Niko Rukavina‘s radar for the past few years. Currently attending St. Michael’s College and playing for the Phoenix Volleyball Club, he has been closely connected to TMU, attending the team’s high-performance camp and training with his club at TMU facilities.
“I am very excited to bring Gabe into our gym,” said Rukavina. “He is an incredibly hard working, motivated athlete that has taken all the right steps to get his game to the next level. He puts in the work on and off the court and his competitive nature will help level up our volleyball program.”
Gonzalez Royds is the sixth player to commit to TMU for the 2025-26 season, marking a busy and productive recruiting cycle for Rukavina and the Bold.
