CANADA WEST MALE VOLLEYBALL ATHLETE OF THE WEEK | KADEN SCHMIDT

LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western’s Kaden Schmidt (Mississauga, Ont.) has been named Canada West Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week for January 16-18. The third-year outside hitter had a huge weekend, leading the then No. 9 Spartans to a hard-fought 10-set sweep of the then No. 1 Alberta Golden Bears at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, BC.
 
Schmidt opened the weekend with 20 kills, three service aces, six digs, one block, and 23.5 points in Friday’s 3-2 win over the Bears and 23 kills, four service aces, 10 digs, one block, and 27.4 points in Saturday’s win over Alberta at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C.
 
The third-year education student is currently eighth in Canada West in service aces with 18, and 10th in Canada West in kills with 149.
 
Schmidt and the rest of the Spartans will now travel to Calgary, Alta. to take on the Calgary Dinos on Friday, January 24, and Saturday, January 25, with game times set for 7:30 p.m. (MT), and 4 p.m. (MT). Both matches can be seen live on Canada West TV.
