KINGSTON, Ont. (Mar. 10, 2025) – Elizabeth Vroom and Zig Licis have been named the Queen’s University Student-Athletes of the Week presented by Egg Farmers of Ontario, for their performances over this past weekend.
Vroom (Engineering), a third-year distance runner, helped set a new school record in the 4x800m relay at the U SPORTS Track and Field Championship. The team finished in eighth place with a time of 9:03.56, marking a historic performance for Queen’s.
With the conclusion of the U SPORTS Championship, Queen’s Distance Track capped off the 2024-25 season with remarkable achievements and milestones.
Licis (Computer Engineering), an OUA First Team All-Star, delivered another dominant performance at the Men’s Volleyball OUA Championship, leading Queen’s past the OUA No. 1 ranked Windsor Lancers to capture the Forsyth Cup with a 3-1 victory Friday night.
The OUA Athlete of the Week mirrored last week’s semi final performance against the Western Mustangs, this time recording a game-high 22 kills, along with three service aces, nine digs, and 26.5 points.
With the OUA title under their belt, Queen’s Men’s Volleyball now sets its sights on the U SPORTS Men’s Volleyball Championship in Brandon, Manitoba, taking place from Mar. 21-23.
