
Kingston, ON – Western struggled to gain momentum as they lost 3-0 to Queen’s on Saturday.
The game started quite even between the teams with a score of 5-5. As the set continued both teams stayed right even with each other at 16-16. With Queens in the lead at 22-20, Western called a timeout. Right after, the Gaels got another point resulting in Western asking for another timeout 23-20. Queens took the set 25-21.
In the second set, the Mustangs had a decent start trailing right behind the Gaels at 7-6. Western then called a timeout at 10-6 to reduce the difference between their scores. At 17- 9, the Mustangs asked for another timeout in efforts to get more points. This set was not great for Western with the Gaels taking the win 25-17, making it a 2-0 match.
The third set had a better beginning for the Mustangs with a score of 7-5 Western. At 17-14, Western called a timeout in hopes of changing the rhythm. With the Gaels ahead at 21-19 the Mustangs asked for their last timeout. The Queens Gaels took their second win of the weekend finishing the match at 25-20, clearing the Mustangs 3-0.
