Huskies Rebound From Opening Set Loss to Defeat Wesmen

SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies women’s volleyball team improved to 13-2 after a four-set victory – (25-27, 28-26, 26-24, 25-20) – over the visiting Winnipeg Wesmen (6-9) at the PAC on the Ron & Jane Graham Centre Court on Friday evening.

Despite an opening set loss, the Huskies were able to respond by winning three consecutive sets against the Wesmen. The opening set was a back-and-forth affair, with the visiting team taking it by a score of 25-27.  From that point on the East Division-leading Huskies were able to regain control of the game.

The Dogs have been a force to be reckoned in the East, with a .867 win percentage and were able to assert themselves into the game.

It was a lengthy game for the two teams despite ending in four sets, with three of the four sets going above 25 points.

Emily Koshinsky gathered a total of 20 kills on the night, cementing her status as a program legend. Winnipeg’s Emma Parker gathered a game-high 22 kills on the night.

The Huskies will be back in action at the PAC tomorrow starting at 3 PM to face Wesmen once again in their final regular-season home game before hosting the opening round of Canada West playoffs next week. Emily Koshinksy, Emma Matheson, Dani Forester and Shae Beaulieu will be honoured as they play out their final regular season games before graduating from the program.
