Men’s Volleyball Draws in Weekend Against Marauders

STATS

On Friday, Chase Bridges and Gustavo Siqueira led the offense with 13 kills each and Markus Law-Heese chipped in 33 assists. Defensively, Quintin Greenidge held up with 12 digs, and Anthony Ivanovski added 5.0 blocks.

On Saturday, Bridges led the way again to the tune of 11 kills, while Markus added 5.0 blocks and 40 assists to his weekend tally.

FRIDAY GAME FLOW

The Lancers got off to a dominant start Friday night, racking up kills in multiple scoring runs across the first set, before closing it out 25-10. McMaster regained their composure in the second set to put some pressure on the blue and gold, trading points throughout the length before Windsor was able to snag the late kills, winning 29-27.

The third set saw more back and forth lead changes, with the Marauders clawing back from a slight deficit midway through to clinch a 25-21 win. The Lancers were undeterred by the gathering momentum and used early scoring to catch a leg up early on the maroon and silver, before holding out for a 25-22 set win, and a 3-1 match victory.

SATURDAY GAME FLOW

The home squad came out firing on the second day of match ups, trading blows with the Lancers up and down the court. Early points let the Marauders claw out of the first two sets 25-23 and 25-21 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Unfazed by the home ground, the blue and gold sank into their rotations and began trading back, before using late scoring runs to pull out a 25-19 win in the third set. A sluggish start to the fourth saw the Lancers trail by as much as 7 early on, before a late push as the Marauders neared the 20s brought Windsor roaring back into the frame, eventually pushing past to win 26-24 and forcing the fifth set.

In the final set, the two teams traded often, yet a few early points by the maroon and silver gave them enough to edge the blue and gold 15-9, and hand the Lancers their second loss of the season.
