ST. CATHARINES – Defeating the Windsor Lancers for the second time in as many days, the No. 2 Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team secured their sixth consecutive win to start the 2022-23 OUA season. Set scores in the Saturday afternoon match were 25-19, 25-13, 25-14.
Undefeated through preseason and regular season matches this fall, the Badgers overall record now stands at 13-0, including eight straight set victories.
A standout in the quick three set win over the Lancers on Saturday, second-year left side Laurin Ainsworth recorded 10 points from eight kills, one service ace, and one solo block, while also contributing defensively with seven digs.
Topping all players in the match, Brock’s Madison Chimienti notched 16.5 points via 13 kills, three aces, and two block assists.
Pacing the offence, Brock setter Sara Rohr added another 30 assists to her season total as she continues to lead the OUA in assists per set through the early portion of the season. Also at the top of the province in her statistical specialty, Badgers libero Aleiah Torres recorded a game-high 11 digs.
For the Lancers, Aliah Admans was the lone player to reach double-digits finishing with 10.5 points from nine kills, one solo block, and one block assist.
Brock concludes their fall semester of action versus the Toronto Varsity Blues in Toronto next weekend. In a pair of contests on Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3, both days are set for 6 p.m. first serve. The road games will be available to stream on OUA.TV.
