HAMILTON, Ont. – On Tuesday afternoon, three athletes from McMaster’s men’s volleyball team were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments as the OUA announced the 2025 major award winners and all-stars. Maxime Gratton (Ottawa, Ont.) and Matthew Rugosi (Toronto, Ont.) were named OUA All-Stars, while Seth O’Brien (Kingston, Ont.) earned All-Rookie Team honours.

Maxime Gratton (Ottawa, Ont.) – First Team All-Star

Gratton, an outside hitter, completed his fourth and final year with the Marauders, playing a pivotal role in the team’s success. This season, he made history by reaching 1,000 career points, a remarkable milestone that highlights his impact on the program. Gratton’s strong performances throughout the year were crucial to the team’s success and his entire McMaster volleyball career. After earning OUA First Team All-Star honours last season, Gratton was honoured once again this year, leaving his legacy as a key player for the Marauders.

Matthew Rugosi (Toronto, Ont.) – Third Team All-Star

Rugosi, fourth-year libero, had a strong season with the Marauders and was a key contributor to the team’s success. He set a record for the most digs in a single season, finishing with 207 digs in the regular season. Rugosi’s defensive plays were integral to several of the Marauders’ victories.

Seth O’Brien (Kingston, Ont.) – All Rookie Team

O’Brien, a first year opposite hitter for the Marauders, has been named to the OUA All-Rookie Team. In his inaugural season, he played a key role, earning 189.5 points. His standout performance came against Western, where he scored 20 points, including 18 kills. O’Brien’s impressive debut season paves the way for a promising career with the Marauders.
