REDS Season Ends In Loss

(HALIFAX, NS) The Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball season came to an end Tuesday night for the UNB REDS in a 3-2 loss at Saint Mary’s, in the second game of the best-of-three AUS Championship Series, in Halifax.

The Huskies came from two sets down to win 23-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21, and 15-8.

Jenna Adams led the REDS with a match-high 32 digs.

Lydia Green struck 14 kills and had 15 digs, Heather Benko hit 13 kills and had 10 digs, Sonya Nielsen had 10 kills, Talia Nixon pitched 34 assists, and Isla Olesen put up half a dozen blocks.

Emilia Mikanovich led the Huskies with a match-high 21 kills. She also contributed 13 digs and five service aces.

Esther Wildeboer had 15 digs and Grace Blaskovits had 13, while Alena Piatukhova put up six blocks.

With the victory, the Huskies win the series two games to none and will represent the AUS at the U SPORTS Championships, next week, at Trinity Western University, in Langley, BC.
