Cougars set to host East vs West preseason tournament ahead of 2026-27 season

The Mount Royal University Cougars men’s volleyball team will get an early opportunity to test itself against some of the top university programs in the country when Kenyon Court hosts a preseason tournament from October 1-3.

The Cougars will welcome Laval, Queen’s, Waterloo, Alberta and Trinity Western to Mount Royal for three days of preseason competition, giving the team an opportunity to compete in a tournament environment before the start of the 2026-27 Canada West season.

The tournament will feature a strong mix of U SPORTS competition and provide the Cougars with an early test as they continue to build chemistry and prepare for the regular season.

The weekend also marks an important step in Mount Royal’s preparations to host the 2027 U SPORTS Men’s Volleyball Championship. The national championship will be the first U SPORTS National Championship hosted by Mount Royal University since the institution joined U SPORTS in the 2012-13 season.

With the national championship coming to Kenyon Court next March, the October tournament will provide an early opportunity for the Cougars to compete in their home venue against high-level opposition as they begin their preparations for the season ahead.

Mount Royal will officially open its 2026-27 Canada West campaign on October 23 and 24, hosting the Thompson Rivers WolfPack at Kenyon Court.
