SPARTANS FALL TO NO. 2-RANKED LONG BEACH

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Trinity Western lost 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-15) against No. 2-ranked Long Beach State Saturday at the Walter Pyramid in the North American Challenge. 

The Beach, who played in last year’s NCAA national championship final, got the better of the Spartans in TWU’s second match of the day. TWU is now 4-3 all-time against Long Beach.

Kaden Schmidt led the Spartans with nine kills while Piers de Greeff had seven kills and three blocks for TWU. 

Sotiris Siapanis had 11 kills to lead the Beach, while Skyler Varga had nine kills and Danil Hershtynovich had eight. 

TWU is now 0-2 in the North American Challenge, having lost to Pepperdine earlier in the day. 

The Spartans own a 28-24 all-time record against NCAA Division I opponents.
