LONG BEACH, Calif. – Trinity Western lost 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-20) to Pepperdine University, who are ranked No. 10 in the AVCA National Collegiate MVB Preseason Poll, in the opening match of the North American Challenge in the Gold Mine on the campus of Long Beach State University.
With a second match later in the day, the Spartans used the breadth of their roster against the highly ranked Waves. The loss drops the Spartans to 0-2 to open their California tour.
The Spartans, who are currently ranked No. 5 in the U SPORTS Top 10, are now 14-5 overall this year with a 7-3 record in Canada West league play.
TWU is now 5-6 all-time against Pepperdine, who is the team the Spartans have faced the most of any NCAA Division I side.
The Spartans own a 28-23 all-time record against NCAA Division I opponents.
