Stinson and O’Brien named Marauder Athletes of the Week

HAMILTON, Ont. – Women’s basketball, Amy Stinson and men’s volleyball, Seth O’Brien have been crowned this week’s Marauder Athletes of the Week for their excellent showings in their respective maroon jerseys.

Women’s Basketball – Amy Stinson (Hamilton, Ont.)
Stinson led the Marauders to a 2-0 week, improving their record to 10-6 overall. The fourth-year forward recorded 20 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and four assists in a dominant 90-64 victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds. McMaster also faced Toronto, and Stinson once again put up stellar numbers. In the 86-49 win, she scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds, recorded four assists, two steals, and blocked a shot. Between the two games, Stinson shot lights out, shooting 58.3% from the field, and 55.5% from behind the arc.

Men’s Volleyball – Seth O’Brien (Kingston, Ont.)
The rookie from Kingston, Ont., was nothing short of impressive this weekend. The Marauders split a doubleheader against the 10-4, third-seeded York Lions. On Friday night, McMaster triumphed, taking the match 3-1. O’Brien recorded 16.5 points, 11 kills on a .429 attack percentage, three aces, three digs, two blocks, and a block assist. The following day, O’Brien led the Marauders in points, scoring 17. He also added five digs, two aces, a block, and two block assists in a hard-fought 3-2 defeat.
