WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL: RAYMOND-LEDUC AND OWEN EARN OUA ALL-STAR RECOGNITION

The Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball team checked off a lot of boxes in terms of history this past season.

They recorded the most wins in program history with 13, they had the longest winning streak at eight matches and they earned the most set wins in a single season.

All that added up to an incredible first round matchup against the defending champion, Brock Badgers.

And on top of team success, the Lakers had two of their team members rewarded for outstanding personal achievements.

Oceane Raymond-Leduc earned a second team all-star nod, while Paige Owen merited a spot on the third all-star team.

This marks the third straight year both outside hitters have earned OUA all-star recognition.

 
Oceane Raymond-Leduc – Second Team All-Star
Hometown: Ottawa, ON
Position: Outside Hitter
Program: Education
Year: 3
Stats: Kills: 249, K/S: 3.66, Pts.: 282.5, Pts./S: 4.2
Raymond-Leduc was a standout for the Lakers this season, leading their offence throughout the year.

She led the team in kills, kills per set, points and points per set.

She also ranked in the top 10 in all of those categories, including sitting fourth in kills per set and points per set and fifth in kills and total points.

The Ottawa, ON product had over 10 kills 13 times, over 20 kills five times and recorded a season-high 26 kills against Brock on Feb. 14.

Raymond-Leduc also had over 10 points 14 times, over 20 points six times and her season-high came against the Guelph Gryphons on Jan. 10, where she earned 26.5 points.
 
Paige Owen – Third Team All-Star
Hometown: Cambridge, ON
Position: Outside Hitter
Program: Education
Year: 3
Stats: Kills: 229, K/S: 3.14, Pts.: 277.5, Pts./S: 3.8
Owen was a steady force for the Lakers, ranking second on the team in most offensive categories.

She ranked seventh in the OUA kills and points and ninth kills per set and points per set.

Owen had over 10 kills 12 times this season and hit the 20 mark once, as well, with her season-high coming against TMU on Feb. 1 when she hammered home 22 kills.

The Cambridge, ON native had over 10 points 16 times and over 20 points twice, along with her season-high against TMU.

During the season, Owen recorded her 600th career kill and 700th career point.
