BURLINGTON, Ont. – On Monday, March 3, Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced the major award winners, all stars and all-rookie team for the 2024-25 women’s volleyball season, with Gryphons outside hitter, Sloane Fortin, being named to the OUA All-Rookie Team.
Sloane Fortin, a first-year outside hitter from Burlington, Ontario, impressed in her first season with the University of Guelph women’s volleyball program. The sociology major started in 13 of her 14 matches, finishing her rookie season with 136 kills, 17 totals blocks and 84 digs. She scored the fourth-most points for her team and was third on the team in kills. Her best performances of the season came on November 15, 2024, against the Brock Badgers where she scored a season-high 21.5 points, recording 17 kills on a .419 hitting percentage with 3 aces in the match. She had another equally impressive performance on January 11, 2025, at Nipissing where she finished with a season-high 18 kills, tallying 20.5 points in the match.
