Zig Licis, Reed Venning and Chris Zimmerman named OUA All-Stars

KINGSTON, Ont. (March 4, 2025) – Three Queen’s Men’s Volleyball players have been named OUA All-Stars for the 2024-25 season, as announced by the OUA on Tuesday.

Zig Licis earned First Team All-Star honours, while Reed Venning was named to the Second Team, and Chris Zimmerman secured a spot on the Third Team.

Licis (Computer Engineering) was recognized as a First Team All-Star for the second consecutive season. Licis recorded 222 kills while posting the second-highest hitting percentage in the OUA at .297. The fifth-year outside hitter also ranked second in the conference with 28 service aces.

“Offensively, Zig has carried a huge load for the team and stepped up when we needed him most,” said Queen’s Head Coach Gabriel deGroot. “From the service line, he’s one of the most aggressive point scorers in the league. He will graduate as one of the best players in our program’s history.”

Venning (Arts & Science) earned Second Team All-Star recognition after leading the OUA in service aces and ranking fourth nationally with 35. The Courtice, Ont., native also finished fourth in the OUA with 304 total points and fifth in kills with 246.

“Venning continues to develop and adjust to being one of the top point scorers in the OUA,” deGroot said. “We’re proud of what he’s accomplished this season and excited to see his growth in the years ahead.”

Zimmerman, a former OUA Rookie of the Year, capped off his season as a Third Team All-Star. The third-year setter led the OUA and ranked third nationally with 771 assists while also contributing 27 kills, 24 service aces, and 128 digs to his season stat sheet.
