Brock was stunned by Windsor at Bob Davis Gymnasium.

The No. 9 ranked Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (25-27, 25-23, 24-26, 20-25) contest against the Windsor Lancers on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Mackenna Knox recorded a game-high 42 assists in the contest and added 11 digs, while Sadie Dick led the Badgers with 18.5 points from 15 kills and seven block assists.

After an early 16-6 run saw the visitors in the lead, Brock was able to swing the momentum in their favour and bring the game level at 25 all. Despite the late surge from the hosts, Windsor was able to capitalize on an attack error and take the first set 27-25.

The second featured much more back-and-forth action, as the two teams traded points for the majority of the set. A late 7-3 run from the Badgers, finished off by Dick’s fourth kill of the set, on set point, saw a 25-23 scoreline in favour of the hosts.

Much like the second set, the third was tightly contested. The Badgers had an opportunity to close it out on set point, but a Lancers kill thwarted that opportunity, and set the stage for the visitors to take the third set by a score of 26-24.

Riding the momentum created in the previous set, the Lancers, fuelled by a 9-5 run, were able to close out the fourth set 25-20 and the game.

The Lancers delivered a .274 hitting percentage while the Badgers possessed a .118 hitting percentage of their own on the day.

Up next, the Badgers will have a shot at redemption as they host the Windsor Lancers tomorrow, Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here, and the game can be seen online at OUA.tv
