The Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball team had an up and down weekend, but finished in style.
Hitting the road to take on the York Lions for a pair of matches in Toronto, the Lakers fell 3-1 (20-25, 27-25, 17-25, 17-25) Friday night, but bounced back to win Saturday in five.
Oceane Raymond-Leduc led the Lakers with 14 kills, while Paige Owen and Anna-Marie Horvat each had nine in the first contest of the weekend.
Saturday, to close out the weekend Nipissing came all the way back to defeat the Lions in five sets, 3-2 (23-25, 14-25, 25-22, 25-15, 15-12).
Raymond-Leduc led the Lakers with 22 kills, Owen had 18 and Horvat added 12 in the victory.
The Lakers are back home next weekend when they host the Trent Excalibur for a pair of matches.
