After a big road trip where they earned a pair of straight set wins, the Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team was back at home on the weekend.
The Lakers hosted the Trent Excalibur for the first of two matches this weekend, as the teams hit the court Friday night.
The Lakers made it three straight wins and three straight sweeps, as they defeated Trent 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-21).
An even first set for the most part saw the teams tied 17-17 late.
Nipissing pulled ahead 21-20 before closing things off with a 4-0 run to win 25-21 and go up 1-0.
In the second, Nipissing jumped out to an 11-8 lead and stayed out in front of the Excalibur, claiming the second game 25-17.
In the third, Nipissing trailed by one, 13-12, early on, but gained a 20-18 lead late in the set.
A 5-3 run to close things off gave the Lakers a 25-21 win and a third straight sweep.
Justice Smith led the Lakers with 10 kills, while Marc Marchand added nine in the victory.
The same teams are on the court Saturday afternoon to wrap up the weekend.
Match time is set for 4pm at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
