After a convincing victory Friday night, the Nipissing Lakers women’s volleyball team was looking to make it a perfect weekend.
The Lakers took on the Trent Excalibur for a second straight match, as the teams closed out their weekend set.
A 3-0 win Friday was followed up by a second straight sweep (25-20, 25-17, 25-13) Saturday to make it three wins in a row for the Lakers.
A bit of a slow start saw the Lakers down 11-10 early in the first, but they quickly turned things around to take control of the set.
Nipissing grabbed a 20-16 lead before taking the set 25-20 to go up 1-0.
In the second, the Lakers built a 13-11 lead, expanded that advantage to 21-16 late in the set.
They then closed things out thanks to a quick 4-1 to win 25-17 and take a stranglehold on the match.
Nipissing took care of business in the third set, leading 11-7, then outscoring Trent 14-6 to wrap up the match in straight sets.
Paige Owen led the Lakers with 16 kills, while Oceane Raymond-Leduc added eight in the victory.
Nipissing remains at home next weekend when they host the TMU Bold for a pair of matches.
