Gaels Drop Three Set Battle to Marauders

Queen’s Women’s Volleyball headed to Hamilton on Friday evening to take on the McMaster Marauders. The Gaels dropped the contest in three sets (25-27, 20-25, 15-25)

Holly Biasi (Arts & Science), had a standout performance for the Gaels, keeping the ball alive during many crucial plays. Biasi amassed 11 digs during the course of the match.

McMaster built a consistent five-point lead through the first set. Queen’s fought back hard and tied up the set at 19.

The Gaels put solid pressure on the Marauders through the end of the first, forcing extra points, however, they were unable to steal the set away.

Through the second, the Gaels maintained pressure at the service line but struggled to find the court on the attack.

The Marauders took off at the 12-point mark and secured the set with their strong attacks.

The Gaels struggled to regain their rhythm through the third and dropped the final set.

Hannah Duchesneau (Arts & Science) and Claire Carter (Business) led in kills for the Gaels. Duchesneau bagged nine and Carter secured eight.

The Gaels return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 6pm where they will rematch the Marauders. Fans can catch the action on oua.tv.
