Brock women’s volleyball team sees two players earn national recognition

Two players from the Brock women’s volleyball team were recognized for their strong regular seasons.

The announcement was made by U SPORTS on Wednesday, March 12 in Winnipeg, MB as part of the awards banquet that takes place before the upcoming U SPORTS Women’s Volleyball Championship.

Sadie Dick ends her Badgers tenure with a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian selection; the first of her career.

The fourth-year right side helped lead the Badgers to a fifth straight Quigley Cup final, finishing the regular season with .268 hitting percentage which placed her eighth among eligible hitters in Ontario University Athletics (OUA).

Her 65 total blocks placed her seventh in the province and 13th in the country.

Dick, a native of St. Catharines, also finished ninth in the OUA in points (255.5) and tenth in both points per set (3.5) and kills (210).

During the 2024-25 regular season and playoffs, Dick became the all-time leader in both points and kills. She finished the regular season with 15 games in double-digit points and delivered a career-high 22.5 points from 21 kills, one solo block and one block assist in the Badgers’ 3-2 win over the then No. 6 Queen’s Gaels on Nov. 1, 2024.

“Sadie is very deserving of this honour,” said head coach Steve Delaney. “She had a great season and has been key to our program’s success on and off the court.”

Charlotte Ross made an instant impact as a starter in the middle position, playing in every match during the regular season and playoffs in her first year as a Badger.

The local St. Catharines product was a force at the net, finishing third in the OUA and sixth in the country in blocks with 74 while her 1.00 blocks per set placed her fourth in the province and eighth in U SPORTS.

From the service line, Ross also was devastating as she led the team in service aces with 31, finishing seventh among all hitters and second among all middles in the OUA.

Her career-high 15.5 points off eight kills, four service aces and seven block assists came against the Nipissing Lakers on Feb. 15.
