(WOLFVILLE, NS) The UNB REDS scored a 3-1 win over the Acadia Axewomen in Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball play Saturday night, in Wolfville.
The REDS won with scores of 25-23, 20-25, 25-23, and 25-21.
Acadia’s win in the second set ended UNB’s run of consecutive set victories at 18.
“Acadia pushed us tonight, especially after we dropped the second set, but I loved how composed we stayed,” said REDS’ head coach Lauren Hale-Miller. “We trusted our game, worked through the uncomfortable moments, and found a way to respond. It was a solid team win.”
Lydia Green led the REDS with 16 kills on an impressive .538 hitting percentage. Green also contributed nine digs.
Jenna Adams recorded 18 digs and Sonya Nielson added 10.
Talia Nixon pitched 30 assists and Danielle Kryzwonos put up four blocks.
Alexia Leman-Evans led the Axewomen with a match-high 18 kills.
Sophie Edgar had 14 digs for the hosts, and Katie MacLean had 33 assists.
With the win, the REDS are now 8-0 and continue to lead the AUS.
Acadia falls to 2-6.
The teams conclude their weekend series Sunday. First serve is scheduled for 2:00pm.
