Badgers best Gee-Gees in straight sets to open
season

The Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team swept the Ottawa Gee-Gees 3-0 on their Halloween game at Montpetit Hall in Ottawa on Saturday.

The Badgers took the first match of the season by scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-14, hitting .301 as the defending OUA champions and U SPORTS bronze medalists opened 2026-27 on a high note.

Brock jumped out to an early 8-5 lead in the first set after winning on a pancake call. Daryan Chadwick’s hard hitting from the get-go left Ottawa with no little for error as Brock closed out the set by a score of 25-14.

A tighter second set had Chadwick contributing on both sides of the ball, making great digs to keep rallies alive, while Emma Baruchelli provided secondary offensive firepower. The Bagders defense provided key blocks, limiting Ottawa to just a .191 hitting percentage in the frame and marks under .100 the rest of the game. The second set stayed close as points were traded back-and-forth, but Brock responded to win 25-23.

Brock took the first three points of the third set and reached a 10-5 lead with kills from Charlotte Ross. Jasmine DelCarmen-Ellison’s defensive awareness kept balls alive for the Badger offense, as she recorded 12 digs on the afternoon, helping to stretch the lead to 18-10. Brock finished the sweep with a 25-14 set win.

Chadwick led the way with 12 kills and 12.5 points, while Tuck (10.5 points) and Ross (9.0) were key contributors for the Badgers.

Brock will look to take on Ottawa again on Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 p.m. The game can be streamed live on OUA.tv.
