ARULPRAGASAM SIGNS PRO CONTRACT IN DENMARK

University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s volleyball alumnus Hunter Arulpragasam has signed a professional contract with VK Vestsjaelland, competing in the top league in Denmark of VolleyLigaen.

“Receiving this contract offer was an incredibly exciting and fulfilling moment for me,” said Arulpragasm. “Playing professional volleyball overseas has been a goal of mine for a long time, so having the opportunity to continue my volleyball career in Denmark is something I’m very grateful for. It is rewarding to see the culmination of years of training, competition and commitment come to fruition, and I’m thrilled to take on a new challenge at the professional level.”

Arulpragasam competed with the men’s volleyball team from 2021 to 2026. He was named an OUA all-star in three of his five seasons with the Varsity Blues, while contributing to OUA silver in 2022 and OUA bronze in 2023. At the conclusion of his fifth season, he finished fourth in program history in total points and became one of only four Varsity Blues to surpass the 1000-point plateau when including regular season and postseason statistics.

“My time as a Varsity Blue has been instrumental in preparing me for this opportunity. Competing and training within the high-performance environment of the University of Toronto Men’s Volleyball program, along with the phenomenal coaching and mentorship of John Barrett, helped me develop significantly as both an athlete and a person. My five years with the program taught me the importance of discipline, consistency, accountability and resilience, all of which are essential when competing at the professional level.”

VK Vestsjaelland is based out of Korsor with home matches played inside the Korsorhallen Arena. Their 2026-27 season will open on Sunday, Oct. 18 against Hvidivre VK.

“The transition to Denmark has been fantastic. Moving to a new country and joining a new team requires time to adjust to a different environment, but everyone at Volleyklubben Vestsjælland has been extremely welcoming and supportive. I am extremely grateful to everyone who supported me throughout my time at the University of Toronto, including my coaches, teammates, physiotherapy team, strength and conditioning staff, friends and family. I am proud to represent the University of Toronto as I begin this next chapter, and I am very excited for the opportunity to continue competing, developing and challenging myself at the professional level in Denmark.”
