EDMONTON – After helping Team B.C. finish second at the 2025 Canada Cup, Nathaniel Jarrett will be bringing his talents to MacEwan University next fall.
The first student-athlete announced in head coach Brad Poplawski’s 2026-27 recruiting class has strong athleticism at the outside hitter position.
“He’s a really good athlete,” said Poplawski. “I’m excited to work with him. He’s already serving at a really high level, and his offence, I think, will translate really well to this level because of his jump. He’s a pretty dynamic attacker.
“I’m excited to have our first recruit for 2026.”
The 6-foot-2 product of Templeton Secondary School and Apex Volleyball Club helped his team finish third at provincials and fifth at nationals. His Canada Cup tape really impressed Poplawski, who was even further convinced by an in-person audition.
“Obviously, I think his video from the Canada Cup last summer is really solid,” he said. “Playing for Team BC, he’s coming from a good level.
“Then on his visit here, it was just his athleticism. Really good jump and good ball control, an all-around really good touch on the ball. I gave him a little piece of feedback on our pipe and he was able to apply it immediately. His ability to get feedback and apply it right away is awesome.
“Our goal is to bring in really good people that are also good volleyball players and he met that. The guys love him. Him and his family are awesome.”
Jarrett will be joining MacEwan’s prestigious Nursing program in the fall.
