Fresh off a Canada Games bronze medal, men’s volleyball head coach Ian Eibbitt and incoming recruit Toby Snider are set to bring that valuable experience to the Brock Badgers this season.
Eibbitt and Snider helped Team Ontario to a third-place finish at the 2025 Canada Summer Games Sunday, Aug. 24 in St. John’s N.L.
“I’m proud of our team. Although we ultimately didn’t achieve our goal of winning a gold medal, we showed tremendous resilience after our semifinal loss by coming together and winning our final match,” Eibbitt said. “These lessons of overcoming adversity and playing for each other are great life skills that I hope help our athletes grow in the future.”
Starting Tuesday, Aug. 19, Team Ontario went undefeated through three days of pool play before besting Team British Columbia 3-1 (25-18, 13-25, 25-22, 25-20) in the quarterfinal round.
A 3-0 semifinal loss (23-25, 19-25, 23-25) to Team Manitoba set up a bronze medal match with Team Quebec, where Team Ontario responded with a 3-0 straight sets victory (30-28, 25-23, 25-21).
“My Canada Games experience was a very special one, and I’ll remember it for the rest of my life as I’ve made countless memories with this amazing group of teammates and coaches,” Snider said. “I look forward to translating what I’ve learned this summer into a competitive first year with Brock.”
Both Eibbitt and Snider shift their focus to the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) season where the Badgers men’s volleyball team is hungry to make its way back to the playoffs.
Snider is part of a seven-player recruiting class that is expected to make an impact for years to come.
