Austria

Madison Chimienti (BSM ’25) is set to take her talents overseas.

The recently graduated volleyball star signed a professional contract with TSV Hartberg, a team in the Austrian Volleyball League (AVL), on June 4.

“Playing overseas and chasing this dream has been something I have dreamed of ever since I first picked up the game,” Chimienti said. “This opportunity would not have been possible without the love and support from my family, teammates, coaches and everyone at Brock University. I am truly grateful for how this program has shaped me both on and off the court, and I am excited to continue growing and improving as I take on this next chapter abroad.”

Beginning her Badgers career during the 2021-22 season, the 5-10 outside hitter was an immediate contributor, earning an Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Second Team All-Star selection and a spot on the All-Rookie Team.

That first season, the Aurora, Ont. Product, finished sixth in the province in total kills (124) and total points (146) and was also in the Top 10 in the OUA in kills per set (3.10) and points per set (3.6).

“I’m super happy for Madison signing her first pro contract and proud of what she’s been able to accomplish and overcome,” said women’s volleyball head coach Steve Delaney. “We are going to miss her thunderous spikes and her money passing in our lineup. We know she will be a success at the next level.”

Throughout her four-year career, Chimienti was a fixture for the Badgers, appearing in 84 total matches while finishing with 716.5 total points, 607 total kills and 495 digs.

During that span, the Badgers women’s volleyball team captured three OUA titles and hosted four consecutive OUA Quigley Cup championship matches.

Starting on Sept. 1, Chimienti will report to training camp in Hartberg, Austria, with the season set to go until March 2026.

Last season, TSV Hartberg finished seventh in the AVL standings with a 4-12 record and were eliminated by Ti-Axess Volley 3-1 in the quarterfinal round.
