Welcome to our Team Canada beach volleyball update where you can stay tuned with tournaments, results and rankings for your favourite athletes on both the men’s and women’s circuit. This week will feature the most recent results for Canadian teams representing on the international stage.
Each week will provide an update on whichever teams are currently competing in tournament–stay tuned!

Canadian Men

Jake MacNeil and Alex Russell – IG: @jakemacneil and @alexwrussell
Tournament: Songkhla (TH) on April 14th
Results: 17th place

Jake and Alex previously competed in the Coolangatta Future on March 30th-April 3rd where they placed 2nd. An amazing accomplishment for this tenacious team at their first international event together!
MacNeil/Russell played in the San Marcos Beach Volleyball Tournament over the weekend of April 22nd-24th and played fellow Canadians Schacter/Dearing for a fifth place title. Schacter/Dearing won the match ranking fifth in the tournament overall, with MacNeil/Russell sitting in seventh place.

Sam and Dan then went on to compete in the World Championship Qualifier (DO) on April 16th and came 1st! Congratulations and good luck as they pursue the World Championships.

The twin duo joined their male counterparts, Schacter/Dearing in qualifying for the World Championships after the World Championship Qualifier (DO) on April 16th where they placed 2nd. Bravo ladies and good luck in your pursuit!

Tournament: Songkhla, Thailand on April 14th– 17th
Results: 3rd place
This tournament result marks Alina and Amanda’s first ever FIVB podium finish as a team. Congrats, ladies! The hard work is paying off and we can’t wait to see where your success takes you.

Tournament: Itapema, Brazil on April 14th
Results: 5th place
This tournament marks Brandie and Sophie’s highest ranking as a partnership thus far! Things are looking bright for this team and we can’t wait to see what’s in store.

Brandie and Sophie competed in the San Marcos Beach Volleyball Tournament and won the women’s segment in what was the first stage of the NORCECA Tour of 2022 on April 24th. The duo competed in the semi-finals against Canadian counterparts Shanice Marcelle and Ruby Sorra who ended up with a bronze medal at the event.

Rankings are based on a team’s 8 best results at all FIVB recognized events over the last 365 days. FIVB World rankings are updated every Monday after an FIVB recognized event granting FIVB ranking points.
