At the 2016 Rio Olympics Jamie Broder was part of the Canadian team representing her country on the beach. She and her partner Kristina Valjas would eventually get knocked out of the playoffs by fellow Canadians Sarah Pavan and Heather Bansley. Broder retired following the Rio Games and now she and her family are cheering on Pavan and Bansley as they both have their eyes on the Olympic podium – but each with new partners. In this interview Broder breaks down what she’s seen so far this tournament with Momentum’s Emily Cordonier.

She is a U Sports National Championship Silver Medallist 2005 & 2006, CanWest Championship 2006, CanWest Player of the Year 2006, U Sports All-Canadian 2005 & 2006, and a Therese Quigley Award (U Sports WVB Top Student Athlete 2005). She won the Marilyn Pomfret Trophy (UBC Most Outstanding Female Athlete 2005), 5-Year Women’s National Team member (3-Year Team Captain) and played professional Volleyball in France. Emily was inducted into the UBC Hall of Fame in 2017.
