Huskies clinch playoff spot with straight set win over Aigles Bleues

MONCTON, N.B. – The Saint Mary’s Huskies have clinched a spot in the 2026 Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball championship with a straight set win (26-24, 25-14, 25-21) win over the Moncton Aigles Bleues on Sunday afternoon at CEPS Louis-J.-Robichaud in Moncton, N.B.

Saint Mary’s were led by Player of the Match Emilia Mikanovich, who put up a match-high 22.0 points (20 kills, two aces, 15 digs). Esther Wildeboer added 10.5 points (10 kills, 11 digs, 0.5 blocks) and Taylor Lougheed dished out 29 assists.

Moncton was led by Emma Burns’ 15.0 points (12 kills, three aces, seven digs) and Gabrielle LeClair’s 10.5 points (seven kills, two aces, 1.5 blocks, 12 digs), with setter Mia Ladd recording 26 assists.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 9-10 on the season, heading into the regular season finale, as they’ll host the Dalhousie Tigers (9-10) on Friday, Feb. 13, with playoff seeding on the line. GET TICKETS

Friday’s regular season finale will also be senior night, as the Huskies honour graduating seniors Lianne Rogers, Syree Tucker, Kala Bruhm, Taylor Lougheed and Emilia Mikanovich, ahead of their final home game at the Homburg Centre.

The Aigles Bleues drop to 2-17, and will finish off the season on Friday, Feb. 13, as they visit the UNB REDS (19-0) in Fredericton, N.B.
