The REDS took Saturday’s match with scores of 25-10, 25-11, and 25-16.

“We’re really proud of the group this weekend,” said REDS’ head coach Lauren Hale-Miller. “Going 3-0 both days speaks to our discipline and our commitment to the plan and to each other.”

Talia Nixon led the REDS, striking seven kills and pitching 20 assists. She also had five service aces, three digs, and five blocks.

Heather Benko had seven kills, three aces, and half a dozen digs. Benko scored 10.5 points in the match, including the 1000th of her regular season AUS career.

“It’s a special milestone that we are excited to celebrate with her,” said Coach Hale-Miller. “We can’t wait to see what’s to come.”

Benko becomes just the fifth player in UNB women’s volleyball history to score 1000 points, joining Jill Blanchard (1301), Barb Vriends (1127), Heidi Mouris (1115), and Erica Hay (1077).
