Pascale Galarneau, Reed Venning named Queen’s Varsity Student-Athletes of the Week

Pascale Galarneau and Reed Venning have been named the Queen’s University Varsity Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances this past weekend.

Galarneau (Health Sciences) helped Queen’s Women’s Volleyball sweep their weekend series against the McMaster Marauders, increasing their winning streak to seven games. Galarneau had a very efficient weekend for the Gaels, and recorded 11 combined kills.

The Gaels, who are undefeated in 2026, improved their record to 11-5 on the season and now sit tied for fifth in the OUA standings. Queen’s is back on the court next weekend, taking on the Toronto Varsity Blues, who share an identical 11-5 record, in a doubleheader in Toronto, Ont. The Gaels face the Varsity Blues on Friday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 PM and Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2 PM. Both games can be seen on OUA.tv.

Venning (Arts & Science) also helped Queen’s Men’s Volleyball sweep their weekend series against the Marauders. The senior had a combined 30.5 points over the weekend to hit 800 career points in the regular season for the Gaels and 1,000 career points in regular season and postseason combined.

With the two victories, the Gaels’ improved their record to 14-4 on the season. Queen’s currently sits in third place in the OUA standings, and have clinched home court advantage for the first round of the OUA Playoffs. The Gaels are on the road next weekend, taking on the Varsity Blues, who are currently atop the OUA standings with a 15-1 record, on Friday, Feb. 6 at 7 PM and Saturday, Feb. 7 at 4 PM. Both games can be seen on OUA.tv.
