(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS scored a decisive straight-sets win over the Acadia Axewomen in Atlantic University Sport women’s volleyball play Friday night, extending their unbeaten streak to 13 games.
The REDS won 25-18, 25-20, and 25-16.
Heather Benko led the REDS with 13 kills and a pair of blocks earning Tim Horton’s Player of the Game honours.
Lydia Green chipped in with nine kills and 10 digs while Talia Nixon put up a match-high 33 assists.
Alexia Lemay-Evans had 10 kills for the Axewomen while Sophie Edgar and Jenna Guy each had five digs.
With the win, the U SPORTS No. 8 ranked REDS improve to 13-and-0 and remain atop the AUS standings. Acadia is now 4-and-8.
The REDS and Axewomen clash again Saturday afternoon in the finale of their weekend series. First serve is scheduled for 3:00pm.
